BEAM COPING CAPABILITY


Coping is probably the most time consuming operation that structural fabricators have to perform. It involves reading the drawing, laying out the cope on the beam by chalk or paintpen. Then, firing up the cutting torch and slowly, carefully cutting out the web section, then the flange section. There just hasn't been a good way to automate this slow, imperfect process.

Until now. PythonX makes beam coping a 'one button' operation. The operator loads the part detail drawing, which the machine control reads and uses to develop the cutting sequence and robotic arm movements. - the equivalent of layout. With the beam loaded on the infeed conveyor, the operator pushes the 'START' command, the steel moves into place, and plasma torch begins the coping cut.
